How Great Is Our God: A Biblical Message on the Majesty of the Almighty

How Great Is Our God

There are moments when human language seems inadequate to describe the greatness of the Almighty God. His majesty exceeds human understanding, His wisdom is beyond measure, and His power knows no limits. Yet the Holy Scriptures continually invite us to behold His glory and acknowledge His sovereign authority.

Therefore, we must ask with reverence and awe: How great is our God?

The answer cannot be contained in a single sentence or even a lifetime of study. Nevertheless, the Word of God reveals His eternal nature, creative power, holiness, sovereignty, and unfailing faithfulness.

The God we worship is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last (Revelation 22:13, KJV). He is not subject to the limitations of His creation. Before the mountains were formed or the earth came into existence, He was already God (Psalm 90:2).

The Bible opens with this profound declaration:

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1 (KJV)

In these opening words, Scripture reveals the Almighty God as the Creator of all things. He commanded light to shine, established the heavens and the earth, and brought creation into existence according to His divine wisdom and power.

Yet recognizing God’s greatness requires more than acknowledging His creative works. If the Almighty God is our Creator, then our lives belong to Him. His authority calls us to worship Him, trust His Word, and walk in obedience to His commandments.

As we examine what the Scriptures reveal about His majesty, we must also examine our own hearts. Do we truly acknowledge Him as LORD? Does our faith reflect confidence in His power? Do our daily decisions demonstrate reverence for His Word?

The greatness of the Almighty God is not merely a truth to admire. It is a divine revelation that should transform how we worship, believe, and live.

How Great Is Our God: The Creator of All Things

The greatness of the Almighty God is revealed through His marvelous works of creation. From the vastness of the heavens to the smallest living organism, everything that exists testifies to His infinite wisdom and power. Nothing in the created order exists independently of Him.

The apostle Paul reveals a profound truth concerning Jesus Christ:

“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.” — Colossians 1:16 (KJV)

This Scripture establishes that Jesus Christ is not merely a witness to creation. He is the One through whom all things were created, and all things exist for Him.

Furthermore, the following verse declares:

“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” — Colossians 1:17 (KJV)

Therefore, the greatness of Jesus Christ is revealed not only in His creative power but also in His continuing authority over everything He has made.

King David contemplated the heavens and declared:

“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;” — Psalm 8:3 (KJV)

Yet his contemplation of God’s greatness led him to an even more remarkable question:

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” — Psalm 8:4 (KJV)

The God whose power established the heavens is also mindful of humanity. His greatness does not diminish His concern for those He has created.

What Does God’s Creative Power Mean for Our Lives?

If Jesus Christ is the Creator of all things, then He possesses divine authority over our lives. We cannot rightly acknowledge His greatness while refusing to recognize His lordship.

The same Jesus Christ through whom all things were created is also the One through whom God has provided reconciliation and redemption (Colossians 1:19–20).

Therefore, the revelation of Christ as Creator should lead us beyond admiration of the heavens to a deeper recognition of His divine identity and authority.

We must ask ourselves: Do we truly acknowledge Jesus Christ as LORD? Do we trust His Word? Are we willing to submit our lives to His commandments?

The greatness of God revealed in creation calls us to worship Him, place our faith in Jesus Christ, and live in obedience to His Word.

How Great Is Our God: The Eternal King

Earthly kings rise and fall. Nations emerge, kingdoms flourish, and empires eventually disappear. Even the most powerful rulers are limited by time, circumstances, and mortality. However, the Almighty God reigns forever. His throne is eternal, His authority is supreme, and His kingdom has no end.

The apostle Paul declares:

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.” — 1 Timothy 1:17 (KJV)

This Scripture reveals the incomparable majesty of the Almighty God. He is eternal, without beginning or end. He is immortal, untouched by death. His wisdom is perfect, and His sovereign authority cannot be overthrown.

Furthermore, the prophet Isaiah declares:

“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” — Isaiah 44:6 (KJV)

No earthly power can rival His authority. No kingdom can exist independently of His sovereignty. He alone is God, and His dominion extends over every generation.

The Scriptures also reveal the royal authority of Jesus Christ:

“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” — Revelation 17:14 (KJV)

This declaration reveals the ultimate triumph of Jesus Christ. The powers of this world cannot overthrow His kingdom, and those who belong to Him are called to remain faithful.

What Does God’s Eternal Kingship Mean for Our Lives?

If the Almighty God is the Eternal King, then His authority must extend beyond our words of worship into every aspect of our lives.

We cannot sincerely acknowledge Him as LORD while deliberately rejecting His commandments. True reverence for God requires a willingness to submit our thoughts, decisions, relationships, and conduct to His Word.

Jesus Christ asks a searching question:

“And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” — Luke 6:46 (KJV)

This question calls every believer to examine the sincerity of their submission to Christ.

Do we acknowledge His authority only when His commandments agree with our desires? Or are we willing to obey Him even when obedience requires sacrifice, humility, and self-denial?

The greatness of the Almighty God as the Eternal King should strengthen our confidence in His sovereign power while reminding us of our responsibility to live faithfully before Him.

To acknowledge Jesus Christ as King is to honor His authority, trust His Word, and seek to walk in obedience to His commandments.

How Great Is Our God: The One Who Holds the World in His Hands

The greatness of the Almighty God is revealed not only in His creation of the heavens and the earth but also in His continual preservation of everything He has made.

The universe does not exist independently of its Creator. Its continued existence depends upon the sovereign power of the Almighty God.

The Scriptures reveal this remarkable truth concerning Jesus Christ:

“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power…” — Hebrews 1:3 (KJV)

Jesus Christ upholds all things by the word of His power. The One through whom all things were created also sustains them. Nothing in creation exists beyond His authority.

Furthermore, the psalmist declares:

“The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” — Psalm 24:1 (KJV)

This Scripture reminds us that everything belongs to the Almighty God, including humanity. Our lives, abilities, possessions, and opportunities are not independent of Him. We are accountable to the One who created and sustains us.

Yet His greatness is accompanied by His intimate knowledge of those He has created.

Jesus Christ declares:

“But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” — Matthew 10:30 (KJV)

What a remarkable revelation of divine knowledge and care! The Almighty, whose power sustains the universe, is not ignorant of the circumstances of our lives.

Drawing Closer to the God Who Sustains Us

Recognizing God’s sustaining power should transform our relationship with Him.

If our very existence depends upon the Almighty God, why should we live as though we are independent of Him? Why should we allow the cares of this world to draw our hearts away from the One who gives us life?

Jesus Christ teaches:

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” — John 15:4 (KJV)

Here, Jesus reveals a profound spiritual truth. Just as creation depends upon God’s sustaining power, those who belong to Christ must remain in fellowship with Him to bear spiritual fruit.

Drawing closer to the Almighty God therefore requires more than acknowledging His existence. We must cultivate continual fellowship with Him through prayer, meditation upon His Word, faith, and obedience.

Jesus further declares:

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15 (KJV)

Our love for Jesus Christ must find expression in obedience to His Word. We cannot claim to desire closeness with Him while deliberately disregarding His instructions.

Therefore, let us examine our hearts. Are we becoming increasingly dependent upon the Almighty God, or are we relying entirely upon our own understanding? Do we seek His guidance before making decisions? Does our daily conduct reflect our love for Jesus Christ?

The God who sustains the universe is worthy of our complete trust, wholehearted devotion, and willing obedience.

May the revelation of His sustaining power draw us into deeper fellowship with Jesus Christ, until our lives increasingly reflect His character, His truth, and His will.

The Almighty God: The God Who Dwells in Unapproachable Light

The greatness of the Almighty God is revealed not only through His infinite power and eternal sovereignty but also through His perfect holiness. He is altogether pure, righteous, and glorious. No darkness exists in Him, and no unrighteousness can be attributed to His nature.

The apostle Paul declares:

“Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.” — 1 Timothy 6:16 (KJV)

This Scripture reveals the incomparable majesty and holiness of the Almighty God. His glory exceeds the limitations of human existence, and His divine perfection demands our deepest reverence.

When the prophet Isaiah encountered a vision of the LORD’s glory, he heard the heavenly beings proclaim:

“Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” — Isaiah 6:3 (KJV)

Confronted with the holiness of the Almighty God, Isaiah immediately recognized his own unworthiness:

“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” — Isaiah 6:5 (KJV)

Isaiah’s response teaches us an important spiritual lesson. The closer we come to understanding God’s holiness, the more clearly we recognize our need for His mercy and cleansing.

Yet Isaiah’s encounter did not end with the acknowledgment of his sin. In Isaiah 6:6–7, the LORD provided cleansing, demonstrating that His holiness is accompanied by His mercy.

Drawing Closer to the Almighty God Through Jesus Christ

Although sin separates humanity from fellowship with the Almighty God, He has provided the way of reconciliation through Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures declare:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” — 1 Timothy 2:5 (KJV)

Through Jesus Christ, we are invited to approach the Almighty God, not through our own righteousness, but through the mercy and grace He has provided.

The writer of Hebrews encourages believers:

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16 (KJV)

What a glorious privilege! The Almighty God whose holiness inspires reverent fear also invites us to seek His mercy and draw near to Him through Jesus Christ.

However, drawing closer to God requires sincerity of heart and a willingness to turn away from sin.

The apostle James declares:

“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” — James 4:8 (KJV)

This is both a gracious invitation and a solemn call to repentance. The Almighty God desires more than outward religious observance. He calls us to purity of heart, genuine faith, and obedience to His Word.

Let the Holiness of God Transform Your Life

The revelation of God’s holiness should lead us to examine our own lives.

Are there attitudes, habits, or desires that hinder our fellowship with Him? Have we allowed pride, unforgiveness, disobedience, or the distractions of this world to weaken our devotion to Jesus Christ?

The apostle Peter reminds believers:

“Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16 (KJV)

Holiness is therefore not merely something we admire in the Almighty God. It is also the life to which He calls those who belong to Him.

As we draw closer to Jesus Christ through faith, prayer, repentance, and obedience, we must allow His Word to correct our ways and transform our hearts.

Let us not seek only the blessings that come from the Almighty God while neglecting the holiness He requires of His people. Rather, let our greatest desire be to know Him, love Him, and walk faithfully before Him.

May the holiness of the Almighty God awaken within us a deeper reverence for His presence, a sincere hatred of sin, and an increasing desire to live in obedience to Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father.

The Great God: The Alpha and the Omega

The greatness of the Almighty God extends beyond the boundaries of time and human understanding. Generations come and go, earthly kingdoms rise and fall, and everything in the created world is subject to change. Yet, the Almighty God remains eternally the same.

The psalmist declares:

“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.” — Psalm 90:2 (KJV)

This Scripture reveals the eternal nature of the Almighty God. He has neither beginning nor end. His existence does not depend upon anything He has created, and His divine authority remains unchanged throughout all generations.

The Lord Jesus Christ makes this profound declaration:

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” — Revelation 22:13 (KJV)

Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, while Omega is the last. Through this declaration, Jesus Christ reveals His eternal majesty and supreme authority.

He is not merely a figure within human history. He is the eternal Lord before whom all humanity is accountable.

The Eternal Authority of Jesus Christ

The declaration of Jesus Christ as the Alpha and the Omega must awaken within us a deeper understanding of His divine authority.

Immediately before this declaration, Jesus says:

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” — Revelation 22:12 (KJV)

These words remind us that the Lord Jesus Christ will return and that our lives are accountable before Him.

Therefore, acknowledging Him as the Alpha and the Omega must go beyond confessing His greatness with our lips. We must examine whether our lives reflect genuine faith in Him.

Are we living according to His Word? Are we growing in holiness and obedience? Are we allowing the temporary attractions of this world to weaken our devotion to the Almighty God?

Jesus Christ declares:

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” — Matthew 24:35 (KJV)

Everything in this world is temporary, but the Word of Jesus Christ remains forever.

Consequently, we must build our lives upon His truth rather than upon the changing opinions, values, and desires of the world.

Drawing Closer to the Eternal Lord

Understanding the eternal greatness of Jesus Christ should lead us into deeper fellowship with Him.

We must not allow our relationship with the Almighty God to become a matter of occasional religious activity. Rather, we should continually seek His presence, meditate upon His Word, and submit our hearts to His will.

The apostle John declares:

“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.” — 1 John 2:28 (KJV)

This Scripture teaches that our preparation for Christ’s return involves abiding in Him.

To abide in Jesus Christ is to remain steadfast in faith, continue in His Word, and walk in the light of His commandments.

Our greatest desire should not merely be to receive earthly blessings but to know the Almighty God more deeply and remain faithful to Him throughout our lives.

Therefore, let us examine our priorities. Are we pursuing a closer relationship with Jesus Christ? Do we seek His approval above the approval of men? Are we allowing His Word to transform our character and guide our daily conduct?

The eternal authority of Jesus Christ should inspire both reverent worship and faithful obedience.

May the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Alpha and the Omega draw our hearts away from the temporary distractions of this world and lead us into deeper fellowship with the Almighty God, so that we may remain faithful to Him until the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Conclusion: How Great Is Our God?

How great is our God? His greatness is beyond human comprehension, His wisdom is unsearchable, His holiness is perfect, and His power is without limitation.

He is the Creator of heaven and earth, the Eternal King whose throne endures forever, the Almighty who sustains all things, and the Holy One whose glory exceeds human understanding. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Yet the most wonderful revelation is that this great and holy God has made a way for humanity to be reconciled to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures declare:

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)

What greater demonstration of divine love could humanity receive? The Almighty God who created all things has provided salvation through Jesus Christ, inviting us to turn from sin and enter into fellowship with Him.

How Should We Respond to the Greatness of Almighty God?

The revelation of God’s greatness calls us to more than admiration. It calls us into a living relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.

We have seen His power in creation, His authority as the Eternal King, His faithfulness in sustaining all things, His perfect holiness, and His eternal majesty revealed through Jesus Christ.

But what difference have these truths made in our hearts?

Have they deepened our reverence for the Almighty God? Have they strengthened our faith in Jesus Christ? Have they awakened within us a greater desire to forsake sin, obey His Word, and walk continually in His presence?

The Scriptures remind us that salvation is God’s gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9). Those who receive His grace are called to live as His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works (Ephesians 2:10).

Therefore, let our knowledge of God’s greatness produce humility, gratitude, genuine worship, and wholehearted devotion.

If you have not placed your faith in Jesus Christ, consider His invitation to repentance and reconciliation with the Almighty God.

If you already belong to Him, do not become satisfied with yesterday’s spiritual growth. Continue seeking His presence, studying His Word, and allowing His truth to transform your life.

The more deeply we understand the greatness of the Almighty God, the more earnestly we should desire to know Him, love Him, and walk in obedience to His Word.

A Prayer of Worship, Repentance, and Surrender

Abba Father, Creator of heaven and earth, I bow before Your majesty and acknowledge that You alone are worthy of all glory, honor, worship, and praise.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for every way I have failed to honor You. Search my heart and reveal anything that hinders my fellowship with You. Cleanse me from unrighteousness and teach me to walk in holiness and obedience to Your Word.

Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen my faith in You. Deliver me from pride, unbelief, disobedience, and the distractions of this world. Let my heart continually desire Your presence above every earthly possession or achievement.

Teach me to love what You love, reject what displeases You, and submit willingly to Your commandments.

May my knowledge of Your greatness never remain merely an intellectual understanding. Let it transform my thoughts, my character, my decisions, and my daily conduct.

Draw me closer to You each day, and help me remain faithful until the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

A Final Word of Encouragement

The greatness of the Almighty God cannot be fully expressed in a single message. The Scriptures continually reveal the depths of His wisdom, power, holiness, mercy, and eternal glory.

Therefore, continue studying His Word, seeking His presence, and growing in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Let every revelation of His greatness deepen your faith, strengthen your obedience, and draw your heart closer to Him.

As the psalmist declares:

“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” — Psalm 34:3 (KJV)

How great is our God! May our lives continually testify to His greatness through faith, holiness, love, and wholehearted obedience to Jesus Christ.
